ExactTarget | Journey Builder

Journey Builder is a tool within ExactTarget that allows users to plan email marketing campaigns based on target customers' interactions. During my internship with DesignMap, I smoothed out an existing friction point in the Journey Builder interaction, which was a goal creation wizard that was causing confusion to many users. I created two possible models that would solve the existing problems in the wizard.

The Problem: Creating a Goal

Below are some screenshots from the actual Journey Builders product with two separate modals: one for adding a goal and the other for adding a trigger. They perform two different functions, but look entirely the same. This had been causing confusion for many users and needed to be changed.

PHASE 1 | Sketching

The process of changing the product began with sketches. As I generally begin any other project, the first step was to get as many ideas and solution out on paper for review as possible. Once I had compiled a number of different solutions, my supervisor and I decided on two which were the most promising. We then discussed these solutions with clients at Exact Target and proceeded to wireframe them out.

PHASE 2 | Wireframes

Below are two sets of wireframes illustrating the two solution options my supervisor and I had decided to show the clients. While these are not optimized for website viewing, I included them to show an integral part of the process in communicating with ExactTarget.

PHASE 3 | Prototyping

To further illustrate the details of our solutions, I created prototypes of each on Invision. Not only did this help us and our clients settle on the more successful solution, but it also smoothed out any friction points in our interface design we might have missed in the wireframing process.
